USDA Visitor Center
The Sibbett Group designed state-of-the-art technology exhibits, which introduce visitors to the variety of activities overseen by the United States Department of Agriculture.Located on the mall in Washington, D.C., the USDA Visitors Center welcomes visitors with changing images of the President and USDA Secretary. Computer monitors feature a slide show of people who work in any number of diverse jobs for the department. Nearby, a touchable bust of Abraham Lincoln - who founded the department - sits adjacent to a monitor displaying a variety of Fascinating Facts about the department's many agencies.Along a wall featuring the USDA's seven mission areas, visitors pick up handsets to activate audiovisual programs. Small monitors set within a colorful photo mural backdrop play ambient imagery of regions throughout the United States. A glass wall featuring the USDA logo displays a continuous light program. During press briefings, the lighting program pauses and four video screens illuminate to play live USDA programming.A display case showcases a collection of products developed by the USDA using new technologies, including freeze dried products, highly absorbent materials and agricultural supplies.
