Old Station Visitor Information Center
The Sibbett Group designed The Old Station Visitor Information Center, a destination that highlights the relationships linking the cultural, natural and recreational resources of the Hat Creek region. The Center’s classic A-frame building is now home to interpretive exhibits dedicated to the Hat Creek ecosystem. These discovery-based exhibits bring natural sciences to life for visitors of every age.On one side of the Center, visitors see and discover things to do and learn when they venture into the forest. On the opposite side of the Center, live trout swim in an aquarium while visitors listen to mysterious underwater sounds that were sampled along the length of Hat Creek. As they learn about the unique habits of trout and find out what makes Hat Creek a renowned recreational fishery, visitors can lift a wicker creel to hear the sound of flopping fish or the scream of a fishing reel as it pays out a line. Additional exhibits focus on the other animals and plants that call Hat Creek their home.To learn more about the region’s singular cultural and recreational opportunities, visitors can talk with Forest Service staff, review reference books or take home informational brochures.
