Mojave Desert Information Center Center
The Sibbett Group has designed a visitor center that highlights the numerous natural and cultural resources available in the Mojave Desert region.A large map of the Mojave Desert area introduces visitors to the nine different government agencies active in the area, and the diverse roles each plays in managing and maintaining this unique region.Display cubes with flora and fauna models give insight into how different species adapt to life in a desert ecosystem. A fresh desert flora display reflects the flourishing plant life that gives desert animals food and shelter.Visitors view a model F-22 jet airplane and learn about how the region's characteristics contribute to making Edwards Air Force Base the world's premier flight test facility. The triumph of breaking the sound barrier is told by Chuck Yeager himself in a storyteller graphic.At an interactive computer station visitors access the California Desert Web site, which offers detailed information about the desert. Here they can plan a trip, send a postcard or gain further insight into this unique area.
