Kings Canyon National Park Visitor Center
This visitor center will offer visitors an opportunity to learn about the three distinct regions that make up Kings Canyon National Park.In the welcome area, a large map and cross-section model of the park will convey an immediate message about the park's diverse topography. Here, visitors will be surprised to learn that Kings Canyon is deeper than the Grand Canyon.The main gallery exhibits will define Kings Canyon, the High Sierra and Sequoia areas within the park. A large graphic panel will introduce each distinct area with concise bi-lingual text and breathtaking imagery. Each area will be defined by a full-scale, touchable diorama where visitors appreciate the spectacular natural elements unique to each area. Dynamic storyteller panels will illustrate past and present views about conserving and preserving natural resources. Video programs will introduce visitors to special places within the park and take them on a journey into the backcountry.Visitors of all ages will embark on a learning adventure as they step into the Discovery Room. This rich visual environment will offer children and adults alike a chance to immerse themselves in a kid-centric space that relays uplifting messages about the park.
