Grand Canyon Village Interpretive Center
The Sibbett Group developed an Interpretive Master Plan for a series of new visitor centers in Grand Canyon National Park. For the first time ever, visitors will have an opportunity for expansive, in-depth learning that complements their experiences at the Grand CanyonAdjacent to the historic Bright Angel Lodge and the Grand Canyon Train Station, this collection of visitor centers will be situated in a series of historically significant buildings located in the heart of Grand Canyon Village. Visitors will build the foundation for their visit to the Grand Canyon at the Powerhouse Building. This rugged stone building will serve as the focal point for in-depth information relating to all aspects of the Grand Canyon. Exhibits, demonstration spaces, art galleries and outdoor interpretive programs distributed throughout the Powerhouse will link the natural, cultural and geologic stories of this dynamic site. Numerous exhibit elements will share with visitors the rich stories surrounding the how, when and why of the cultures and people who have inhabited the Grand Canyon throughout history. Artwork and artists inspired by the Grand Canyon will be focused in one building. Their work will be used as a jumping-off point for discussions concerning environmental sensitivity, preservation and stewardship. We teamed up with Pfau Architecture and Page & Turnbull Architects to provide the National Park Service with an integrated interpretive design approach within five historic structures.
