X-Sci 2000
A unique, one-day exhibition was created by The Sibbett Group to excite high school kids' interest in biomedical science and its enormous benefit to our everyday lives.Young visitors began their journey outfitted with badges, maps, schedules and a “journal,” which became a guide to a scientific treasure hunt. At Bio Workbench stations, kids used microscopes, models and colorful graphics to learn about basic biology, drug development, DNA and proteins. Each station included interactive computers and video systems to further highlight topics. In the 3D Bio-Art Gallery, molecules and cells came to colorful life via psychlograms, interactive computer models and powerful 3-dimensional stereo images. After wandering through this elegant, museum-like space, kids could move on to the Lab Tour Launchpad where they were invited to sign up for guided tours through TSRIÍs various labs.On the Dark Side Lab Tour, visitors entered a darkened lab to take a “glowing” trip through the fascinating world of bioluminescence and fluorescence. During the Lab Gear Tour, kids learned about the cool equipment scientists use to make their discoveries. Simple, mind-boggling experiments were the highlight of the ItÍs Alive Tour, where kids learned what living cells look like in agar dishes and under high-powered video microscopes.
