The Fishermen's Terminal interpretive program tells a compelling story about commercial fishing in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. Home to one of the largest active commercial fishing fleets in the United States, Fishermen's Terminal is situated in freshwater on the shores of Lake Union. It is connected to the Puget Sound by a series of marine gateways and locks.

This interpretive program presents visitors with an introduction to the natural resources and cultural heritage that surround the fishing industry. Wayside exhibits interpret the region's unique fish and marine life while explaining the role that commercial fishing plays in the local economy. Other interpretive panels offer an overview of the region's different fisheries and highlight the types of boats and gear used in the waters of the Pacific Northwest and Alaska.

The interpretive signage and graphics were designed to complement the rugged character of the port. Sign and lettering styles were reproduced from historical signs found at the Terminal and a vivid color palette was developed to contrast with the region's predominantly gray weather.
